Tour information

See, touch, and taste wasabi at the world's largest wasabi farm.
This is a guided tour to enjoy wasabi of Azumino, nurtured by clean water and nature, at a leisurely pace.
At the Daio Wasabi Farm, you will enjoy a tour of the farm and shopping with an expert guide.
If you wish, you can also enjoy a specialty wasabi lunch at the farm's restaurant!
On the way back, a stopover at Hotaka Shrine, the chief Shinto shrine of Azumino, is also available.

Tour information

  • 9:00 Gather at Hotaka Station
    Walk to Daio Wasabi Farm

    10:00 Arrive at Daio Wasabi Farm, walk around the farm and shop while listening to the guide's explanation
    11:30 Depart from Daio Wasabi Farm→walk to Hotaka Station (*You may stop at Hotaka Shrine on the way)

    12:30 Arrive at Hotaka Station and disband
    *If lunch is included: Lunch at a restaurant in the Daio Wasabi Farm

The farm is rich in nature that can be enjoyed throughout the year regardless of the season.
Azumino is located at the foot of the Northern Alps, and wasabi grows in nutrient-rich spring water from the mountains.
Thanks to this favorable environment, the Daio Wasabi Farm, the largest of its kind in Japan, has been growing wasabi here for over 100 years.
Visitors can take a walk in the garden to see how wasabi grows, taste freshly picked wasabi, and touch the spring water,
touch the spring water, and enjoy a variety of other experiences.

Hotaka Shrine

Hodako-jinja Shrine is located in Hotaka, Azumino City, the center of Shinshu.
The Okumiya shrine is enshrined in Kamikochi at the foot of the Hotaka mountain range, and the Mine shrine is enshrined on Okuhotaka, the main peak of the Northern Alps.

1. Cancellation 11 days prior to the start of the tour: Free of charge
2. Cancellation 10 days prior to the start of the tour (excluding 3~6): 20% of the tour fee
3. Cancellation 7 days or more prior to the start of the tour (excluding 4~6): 30% of the tour fee
4. Cancellation on the day before the start of the tour: 40% of the tour fee
5. Cancellation on the day of the tour (except for item 6): 50% of the tour fee
6. Cancellation after the start of the tour and no-show: 100% of the tour fee

Precautions and Conditions of Participation

The walk is approximately 2.7~3 km on a flat path. Children and adults who have difficulty walking this distance are welcome to consult with us.
Cab, bus, or bicycle rental from Hotaka Station are also available.
If you would like to include lunch, please contact us in advance.

Access / Map

It takes about 30 minutes from Matsumoto Station by JR Oito Line. From the train window, you can enjoy the Northern Alps and Japanese countryside scenery.
