Nagano is the hottest wine-producing region in Japan right now.

Nagano Prefecture, surrounded by abundant nature, is known for its high-quality grape cultivation due to the large daily temperature difference, and its reputation is growing year by year. This special tour will take you on a bicycle tour of the “Japan Alps Wine Valley,” which is dotted with wineries that are unique among the many wine-growing regions.

As soon as you start pedaling, you will be greeted by a spectacular view of the sun-dappled vineyards and the majestic mountains of the Japan Alps. From the slightly elevated vineyards, a breathtaking panorama awaits you. Visit unique wineries and listen to passionate winemakers who will tell you about their unique wines.

After cycling, enjoy a late lunch at a restaurant that makes lavish use of local ingredients. Enjoy an exceptional time with a selection of wines.

Tour information

  • 9:30 meet at JR Hotaka Station,

    After a brief briefing, we will cycle to visit wineries in the city (a few selected from cooperating wineries). We will enjoy views of the vineyards on high ground, the plains, and the Northern Alps. We will hear interesting stories from the producers about how grape growing began in this region and their individual commitment to their wines.

    13:00 End the cycling tour at a restaurant in the city.
    The Azumino area is one of the areas known for its delicious rice and vegetables. Please take your time and enjoy the collaboration of French cuisine using local seasonal vegetables and the best wines from the wineries you visited that day.

    15:00 JR AzumiOiwake Station, dismissal

5. Cancellation on the day of the tour (except for item 6): 50% of the tour fee
6. Cancellation after the start of the tour and no-show: 100% of the tour fee

Precautions and Conditions of Participation

Must be able to ride a bicycle stably; must be at least 20 years of age.
Alcoholic beverages are not allowed while cycling to comply with Japanese law.

Access / Map

It takes about 30 minutes from Matsumoto Station by JR Oito Line. From the train window, you can enjoy the Northern Alps and Japanese countryside scenery.
