The castle town formed around Matsumoto Castle in the Edo period still forms the foundation of Matsumoto's urban area.
Visitors can enjoy the castle and stroll along the charming streets and paths while reminiscing about life in the Edo period and the townscape.
You will also be able to experience the traditional Matsumoto Temari making.

Matsumoto Castle, built in the Warring States Period, is believed to have originated from Fukashi Castle, which was built about 500 years ago.
It is the oldest existing five-story, six-story castle tower in Japan and is designated as a national treasure,
The black and white contrast of the castle is very beautiful against the mountains of the Northern Alps.
This soba restaurant is located along the Metoba River that flows near Matsumoto Castle. You can enjoy Shinshu buckwheat noodles and other dishes using seasonal ingredients.
Enjoy the seasonal local cuisine of Shinshu and locally brewed sake in the relaxed atmosphere of a warehouse building.
Visitors can enjoy the experience of Matsumoto's traditional temari technique, using yarns dyed with plants and trees from Shinshu and other parts of Japan.

The entire tour is about 3km, walking on mostly flat paths.
The Matsumoto Temari experience is available for children from 3rd grade and up (9 years old~).
