Introduction to Mountain Huts

Business period : June 6th – October 11th, 2026

※Reservation required

It is a hut built in a Sessho field just below Mt. Yari-gatake – as for history, it was opened as a hunter’s hut which can be gathered from the name.

Since it was founded in 1922, it has received many alpinists aiming at Mt. Yari-gatake and mountain climbers who follow the Higasi-kama-o’ne east ridge.

It is built in the shade of the ridgeline and allows you to spend the night relatively calmly than on the ridgeline exposed to strong wind and rain.

Hut Overnight Stay

Sesshou goya is a historic mountain hut located directly below Mt. Yari-gatake. Unlike the ridgeline, the surroundings here are peaceful, allowing you to rest comfortably.
It has long been a popular stopover for climbers ascending Mt. Yari-gatake and those traversing the Omote-Ginza Ridge. Located near the shoulder of Mt. Yari-gatake and the Higashi-Kama Ridge, it offers stunning views of both sunrise and sunset.

Itinerary from Kamikochi

Itinerary from Kamikochi

When Hiking to Mt. Yari-gatake using the Sesshou goya,
we recommend using it as your second-night mountain hut when starting from Kamikōchi,
and as your third-night mountain hut when taking the Omote-Ginza Traverse Route.
Please be sure to avoid itineraries that attempt to reach the hut on the same day from Kamikōchi or Enzan-sanso.
(The times shown here are based on the typical walking speeds of experienced hikers; those who are not accustomed to hiking or are inadequately equipped may take longer.)
We have created a recommended itinerary starting from Kamikōchi, so please refer to it.
