Introduction to Mountain Huts

Business period April 27-November 3, 2026

※Accommodation reservation required

It is built on the ridge of Hotaka Mountain Range, at the foot of Oku-hotaka-dake peak and Mt. Karasawa-dake peak. From Karasawa, it equivocates the highest to your having climbed Zaytengrat.

It begins with the fact that Jyutaro Imada, a mountain guide , who opened the Jyutaro Shindo: New trail leading from Karasawa to Mae-hotaka-dake in 1925, built a hut as the base of Mt. Oku-ho taka-dake (highest mountain of Hotaka Mountains).

The building is a total hinoki structure, bright and equipped with facilities for mountain climbers such as a lobby that is warmed by a wood-burning stove and a library where you can browse mountain-related books.

Heavenly Water

We collect the small amount of meltwater flowing at the bottom of the large snowfield just below the summit of Mt. Karasawa and channel it through pipes to the lodge.
The first-generation owner, Shigetaro Imada, named this water “Tenmeisui” (Water of Divine Destiny).

We provide this water free of charge to our guests and those camping in tents.
For non-guests, it is available for 200 yen per liter via self-service at the shop next door.
